Meet the Team

Michael Harper is a Jackson, Mississippi native with a diverse background in education and corporate leadership. He spent 29 years in the shipping and supply chain industry at FedEx Express prior to his career in higher education. Mr. Harper was a Senior Manager of Domestic Ground Operations with FedEx Express for 14 years, where he received numerous performance and leadership awards, including the prestigious Five Star Award. An alumnus of Alcorn State University and American InterContinental University, Harper holds degrees in Marketing and Design as well as an MS in Workforce Education Leadership.

After retiring from FedEx in 2020, Harper returned to his alma mater, Alcorn State University, to serve in the Career Services Department. He became Director of Career Services and Pre-Professional Programs in August 2023. This role allows him to share his extensive business and leadership experience with students. Harper also serves as an adjunct professor in the School of Business.

Active in professional circles, Harper is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the National Career Development Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His transition from corporate success to educational leadership demonstrates his commitment to mentoring and developing young professionals.

Mrs. Inger Frye, Career Services Coordinator at Alcorn State University, is deeply connected to the local community, as she is from and continues to reside in Fayette, MS. She is passionate about helping students navigate their career paths, whether they are seeking their first job or advancing in their current roles. Inger believes in striking the right balance between being a supportive guide and holding individuals accountable for their goals. Her approach is straightforward, but she ensures that the process is enjoyable. With a wealth of tools, resources, and encouragement, Inger helps students turn their career aspirations into reality.

Ms. Rhoshunda Ellis is a dedicated and experienced professional with a rich background in social sciences and criminal justice. She holds a B.S. in Social Science with a focus on Sociology, and advanced degrees in Criminal Justice from Troy University, as well as an advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialty in Adolescent Therapy.

Ms. Ellis has built a resilient career centered around supporting and educating others, drawing on her extensive experience as a Child Protection Specialist and Family Services Specialist. In these roles, she has worked tirelessly to protect vulnerable populations and support families in crisis. Her commitment extends beyond her professional roles, as she also serves as a mentor, guiding and inspiring others in their personal and professional growth.

Eldrick Young is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in administrative support, customer service, and career development. Born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi, Eldrick pursued his academic goals at Alcorn State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a GPA of 3.5. This academic foundation set the stage for a multifaceted career marked by dedication and excellence.

Eldrick began his professional journey as a Surgical Technician at Natchez Community Hospital. In this role, he contributed to over 100 successful surgeries, developed and conducted training sessions, and collaborated closely with surgeons and nurses to refine surgical techniques. This experience honed his ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a cohesive team.

Transitioning to administrative and customer service roles, Eldrick served as an Assistant Director at Hospital Housekeeping Systems. Here, he introduced a staff training program that boosted productivity by 20% and streamlined administrative processes, cutting paperwork by 50%. His implementation of a performance evaluation system also led to a 10% reduction in employee turnover.

In 2014, Eldrick joined United Mississippi Bank as a Customer Service Representative. His dedication to delivering exceptional service resulted in a 95% customer satisfaction rating. His responsibilities include data analysis, report preparation, and assisting with resume development, reflecting his ongoing commitment to career growth and student success.

Beyond his professional achievements, Eldrick is a devoted husband and father of two. Balancing a successful career with family life, he is committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for his children while maintaining a fulfilling career.
